When we’re asked when we knew Alex’s art skills were something special, we always go back to The Lady. As Alex was growing up, he certainly showed that he innately understood perspective, lighting and other techniques, but one day he was asked if he could draw a wooden sculpture of a Tibetan Lady. He said he could, and went about it with a pencil, an eraser and then water-color pencils to create this amazing piece — at the age of 13. It has been one wonderful discovery after another ever since. We knew he was on to something, and you can tell from his smile that he knew it too.
